BOOK SELECTION

  1. ⁠Each member may suggest a book they would like to read for the coming month.
  2. Suggestions are not mandatory.
  3. ⁠Suggestions must be made before a specified deadline.
  4. ⁠If a member has already read a suggested book, that book may be discarded from the selection process. A replacement book may be added, if the original suggester chooses.
  5. ⁠Once the deadline has elapsed, members vote on the suggested books.
  6. ⁠We will use a ranked voting system, with the help of the tool OpinionX.
  7. Members will vote within another specified deadline.
  8. The highest ranking book will be chosen.
  9. In case there’s a tie, a WhatsApp poll will be conducted, where each member may only vote for one book each.
  10. ⁠There is no formal vetting for books/authors.
  11. If a nominated book is controversial for some reason, any member may bring it up in the chat for discussion.
  12. Unless withdrawn by the nominator, the book will still be available in the final poll, and will be subject to the usual process of voting.
  13. ⁠If a member wishes to sit out a particular book/author, they are free to do so. They may still attend the meeting and participate in discussion.
